At Shelter For Life International, we are thrilled to share the exciting news of our latest venture into climate-smart agriculture. We’ve introduced high-yield cashew varieties imported from Vietnam that promise an impressive yield of 2 tons per hectare while adhering to strict environmental sustainability standards. 🌱
Collaboration for Success
In collaboration with the Agricultural Research Institute (ISRA), we conducted extensive tests, and the results are outstanding. These new cashew varieties, now introduced in the SeGaBi region, are not only boosting productivity but also enhancing adaptation to local conditions and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This marks a significant step towards a more resilient and sustainable agricultural landscape.
Early Success and Encouraging Results
Recently, our Director of International Operations (DIO) and the Project Manager (COP) of the LIFFT-Cashew team visited ISRA’s Unité de Production de Plantes Fruitières (UPPF) to review our progress. Just eight months after planting, we were delighted to witness the birth of the first cashew nuts. This early success is a testament to the incredible support from the USDA, which has been instrumental in making this project a reality. 🥜
Empowering Farmers with Knowledge
Our partnership with ISRA extends beyond just planting new varieties. It also includes providing technical support to improve farmers’ knowledge and strengthen their technical capabilities. These efforts ensure that every player in the value chain benefits from our initiatives, fostering a sustainable and productive agricultural environment.
Commitment to Sustainability
At Shelter For Life International, our commitment to supporting sustainable agriculture is unwavering. The introduction of these high-yield, climate-smart cashew varieties reflects our dedication to creating a better future for farmers and the environment alike. By adopting innovative farming techniques and fostering strong collaborations, we are paving the way for a more productive and sustainable agricultural sector.
Gratitude and Looking Ahead
A big thank you to our DIO for his visit and unwavering support to the SFL team! His leadership and dedication inspire us to continue striving for excellence in our projects. We are also immensely grateful to the USDA and ISRA for their invaluable contributions to this initiative.
As we continue to make great strides towards a more productive and sustainable future, we invite you to stay tuned for further updates on our progress. Together, we can achieve a resilient and sustainable agricultural landscape that benefits everyone.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. 🌱🌍🥜🙏👏
